Session 89 - Into the Darkness

There is much strategising and testing for the entry into the Black Dome over Tilverton. Much throwing of rocks, attempting entry while ethereal, digging into memories of knowledge of the planes, you name it, Divine Fortune tried it.

After three days, yes, three days, the party was ready. Peccable had collected enough Celestially Brilliant stones to take with them into the darkness, and they took the step into a dark, black and white world with little features.

Carefully placing brightly glowing stones at intervals along their path into darkness, like the Hansel and Gretel of another multiverse, DF pushed bravely into the unknown.

And they are quickly attacked by hoards of Greater Shadows, and in once instance, Peccable nearly dies at the cold incorporeal hands of undeath. The undead are vicious and unrelenting, and after just two waves, Divine Fortune decide they have penetrated far enough into the unknown given their dwindling resources and courage, and head back, following the path they had made.

But beating a retreat wasn't going to be easy either. A Huge dark tree was blocking their way, where none was before. And it was moving for them. And singing derepessing songs. And casting spells. One of which Peccable, again, nearly dies at the impact of, at the end drawing on hidden reserves of strength to beat back evil phantasms of the mind. In the end, after much holy flame, some magical flame, distintegration spells, and walls of spinning blades, the Night Twist falls to the blade of Ibis.

But Ibis feels the evil onslaught of the tree creature even after its death, and once safely back out in the normal sunshine, Jill remembers a tale of such a creature and its Death Curse. Ibis quickly aquires the Ring of Limited Wish from Taedor and saves himself from certain peril.
